How to stay motivated this February

How is it February already.
Let’s recap January and refocus on February

2021 already feels like a long year right…

Is your New Year’s motivation starting to slip?

Let’s look at some ways to help get your focus back on track.

Think back to early January. You had big hopes for 2021, you made some plans, and set goals.

How’s it going?

January is often a tough month for maintaining motivation, and this year feels harder than ever.

The good news is that all is far from lost.

There’s still so much of 2021 left – we’ve barely scratched the surface.

So if you have lost your focus, or if your plans never got off the ground, it’s a great time to start again.

Revisit Your Goal – Or Set One

Coach Joseph Webb sprints
Maybe it’s time to set some new goals for the month ahead?

It’s really difficult to feel fired up and motivated without a goal. Go back to your goal setting notes from January.

What did you want to achieve? If you haven’t set goals yet, read my blog about the GROW method and get stuck in.

What’s In The Way?

‘You never fail unless you stop trying’

If you tried to get started on this goal but ground to a halt, work out why.

Was your original goal-setting lacking some detail?

Did the goal feel inauthentic?

Have your circumstances changed, so you now need a different approach or a longer timeframe?

There’s nothing wrong with starting again with a more realistic approach.

Get Accountable

Keep yourself accountable with Coach Joseph Webb
Find someone you care about and ask them to help you stay on track

Tell someone about the goal.

Choose someone you trust, who will have your back and be interested in your journey.

If you don’t make yourself accountable to anyone, it’s much easier to let your plans fall by the wayside!

I’m happy to be your accountability coach – drop me a message.

Small Wins Every Day

It's the little wins says Coach Joseph Webb
Celebrate those small wins as they build momentum for the next step!

Start building self-confidence.

Every time you keep a promise to yourself, you build trust in your ability to achieve a goal.

So start small, by drinking a glass of water first thing every morning, by going for a walk once a day, or by eating one piece of fruit a day.

Make it something so small you know you’ll be able to do it.

Daily Habits

Healthy eating with Coach Joseph Webb
By working on your eating habits alone you will increase your energy and focus for the day

Instead of focusing on the end goal, look at the process that will get you there.

Identify daily or weekly tasks that will take you closer to your goal.

Shift your focus to the journey and take enjoyment from all of these micro successes.

The big goal will happen.

Visual Tracking

Focus on your vision
Track your progress so that you can see how far you’ve come

I encourage all my clients to track their progress during a body transformation, and the theory holds true for any goal.

Keep track of the process.

This helps in two ways: you get a tangible reward for your efforts, and you can see exactly where you need to focus your efforts.

Choose a visual form of tracking (paper, an app) for a more immediate reward.

Involve Others

You get by with a little help from your friends
Bring the people you care about along with you for the ride. Keep them involved in your progress

Other people are important for any journey of change.

They give you accountability, but there’s more to it than that.

A good training partner, coach, or group of like-minded people will keep your motivation high.

Find one or more people who understand your goal, who are excited about your journey, and who will support you without question.

I would love to help you achieve your biggest health and fitness goals in 2021.

Send me a message and let’s talk.

Coach Joseph Webb.
