I’m proud to have been recognised by CIMSPA in its “Setting the Standard” feature, highlighting some of the latest professionals to achieve Chartered status within the sport and physical activity sector.
Achieving Chartered Personal Trainer status represents an important milestone in my career. CIMSPA describes Chartered status as recognising professionals who demonstrate the highest levels of competence, experience and impact, following rigorous sector standards and assessment.
In the feature, CIMSPA looks back over my more than 20 years working across health, fitness and physical activity, from personal training and performance coaching to community initiatives, workplace wellbeing and education.
It also highlights some of the work that has shaped my career, including helping thousands of people improve their health, confidence and fitness, running free community boot camps and Couch to 5K programmes, supporting ice hockey players from junior through to senior level, and organising charity fitness events that raised thousands of pounds for Youthline.
For me, becoming Chartered isn’t simply another qualification. It represents the professional standards I want my coaching to reflect and a responsibility to continue learning, developing and helping people experience the benefits of physical activity.
As I said in the CIMSPA feature:
“Achieving chartered status is a proud moment, but more importantly it represents a responsibility to continue learning, raising standards and helping more people realise their potential through physical activity.”
