The Top 5 Signs Your Diet Is Going To Fail

You’re on a mission to slim down, tone up, and eat right to look and feel your absolute best. You’ve searched google and found the magical diet promising you that ‘quick fix’. But is it setting you up to fail? Ask yourself these five questions and find out…

Question 1: Do you feel hungry all day every day?

It’s normal to feel the occasional hunger pang, especially when you first start a new diet. But those light hunger pangs should easily be quashed by drinking a glass of water. If your diet has you feeling hungry all day, every day, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to stick it out long term.

Make sure your diet lets you eat plenty of protein, fibre, and healthy fats, keeping you feeling full. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water to avoid confusing hunger with thirst.

Question 2: Are you forced to cut out food groups?

A healthy diet incorporates appropriate amounts of food from each food group – protein, carbs, fats and lots of fruits and veggies. When a diet cuts an entire food group from your eating options, you’re going to have a hard time surviving your diet for longer than a week or two.

One of the most popular food groups to cut is carbohydrates. Yes, you may be able to drop pounds cuttings carbs, but you’re also going to drop a lot of the food you love… and experience a drop in energy too. And we all know that a lack of energy makes it so much harder to keep your willpower strong and maintain your diet.

Question 3: Are you experiencing unpredictable mood swings?

Everyone experiences mood swings every once in a while, but if your diet is too restrictive, you may find your mood swings coming with greater regularity and severity. Restricting calories lowers your energy and also messes with the chemicals in your brain. And restricting all the foods you love and feeling like you’re missing out is of course going to leave you feeling grumpy.

Before letting your diet ruin your relationships, reconsider your diet and find one that helps you avoid feeling tired, hangry and moody.

Question 4: Have you been told you don’t need to exercise?

There are some diet plans that promise the weight loss of your dreams without any need to exercise.

Avoid these types of weight loss plans at all cost! It’s likely that these plans have you on dangerously low calories and you’ll be missing out on the countless health benefits that come with exercise. From preventing chronic pain to improving your energy level and sleeping better, exercise is a vital component to any diet. Not to mention, exercise boosts your metabolism, aiding in your weight loss.

Question 5: You’re not losing weight?

It is true that the best way to lose weight is slowly—approximately half to two pounds per week. But take note that slowly doesn’t mean not at all.

Have you’ve been on a diet for a few weeks without any results? Or lost a good chunk in the first few weeks but now the scales won’t budge? Then your diet is a flop. When you’re not seeing results, you’ll get discouraged with your diet and inevitably go back to the old habits that got you where you are now.

A sustainable diet doesn’t leave you feeling hungry all day every day. It doesn’t restrict food groups and doesn’t leave you feeling miserable and moody. And remember that a true body transformation comes only from a combination of diet and exercise,
